A Closet Carrie Bradshaw Would be Proud of!

As I have mentioned before the hubby and I are on the quest for a house. As many people have faced we have champagne taste on a beer budget. Our price range is small, after all, we are first time home buyers. I have noticed that all the houses in our price range have the smallest closets in the world!

My hubby and I currently have a 3 bedroom apartment. One of the closets is for storage, one of the closets is his and one is mine. And we have currently in our apartment walk in closets and we both have tons of clothes that barely fit! So, how on Earth can we share a tiny closet?

So, of course, I think I've made up my mind that where ever we decide to live either a room will be lost for the benefit of my clothes or a good size bedroom will be made very small for the benefit of my clothes.

Which then got me thinking of closets I wish I had.... so today's blog is nothing more that dream closets.... the type of closet Carrie Bradshaw would be proud of...

OF COURSE!!!! Carrie Bradshaw's Closet!

I'm bringing 80's back....Yea!

I have a very unique sense of fashion. However, most of the time I dress pretty normal, but that is because I have a professional job in which I need to be dressed up for.

My style is usually what I want and not always what is in style. But, I will say, that often times I wear something different and it seems to be in style shortly after. Not that I'm a trend setter... I am far from it, but I think I just catch glimps of things when they are in style and by the time it hits the middle of the USA in good old Kansas City, MO I have already been wearing it!

So, anyway, I told my husband this weekend that I wanted to rock a paif of bleached jeans. He laughed at me. So, Monday, I told my friend Ashley and she laughed at me and said that the 80's want their clothes back.

So, just to prove a point...here are some unique 80's clothes that I love... not only worn by fashionable people, but also worn in a cute way!

1. The TuTu Skirt! Any 80's music videos ringing a bell????

2. The fabric headband.

3. What on her isn't 80's? The Military style blazer, Metallic colors and Leggings!

4. The oversized Boyfriend Blazer.

5. The beloved Jean Jacket.

6. Bright colored Leather Jacket.

7. My favorite.... the Bleached Jeans!

Fashion always comes back around!

Home is where the heart is...

The husband and I have had a game plan.... pay off debt, then buy a house. We are currently on the snowball debt pay off system. We have a spreadsheet we use that was downloaded off the Dave Ramsey website about a year or two ago. According to our spreadsheet we will be debt free mid 2013. And thus far, we are in line with our goal.

Well, yesterday the husband found a house online that he seems to be madly in love with. And I don't really like the outside, but the inside is really nice. Which then got me thinking about a passion of mine.... home decor! So, I looked at pictures online and found pics of my dream house.

Just thought I'd share....

Can't afford anything close to these, but it's always nice to dream..... :)

The World's Smallest Violin....

Today will be a rant... yes... a rant. I'm so sorry to do a complaining session, however, sometimes you just feel the need to get things off your chest.

1. Liars. I get a lot of things off of eBay primarily for the cost and also the unique find of old things. As a fashionista on a budget, used and vintage items are a good part of my wardrobe. Recently, I purchased a cute pale pink blazer. I think with shipping it is like $18.50. Not bad for a blazer. And I was looking at blazers both new and old. The blazer I got was really cute, had a nice long shape to it. I also liked the masculine "boyfriend blazer" look it had missed with the feminine color of the pale pink.

The seller of it mentioned the blazer was NWT {which means New With Tags} and there was a picture of a tag hanging on it in the picture. See:

Now, I have many items I buy online sent to my house and a few I have sent to work {if I'm really excited and can't wait}. For some reason I was really excited about this blazer, and thus, had it sent to my work.

When my assistant manager came in and said I had a package that felt like clothes I got really excited... REALLY excited! And it was be new blazer {my NWT blazer} or so I thought. Instead, it was an old blazer with a plain thrift store tag on it.

How dumb must this seller think I am to think that a thrift store style plain tag would make me think this blazer was brand new? Let alone the musty smell.

Now, for $18.50 I can't really complain. A good wash and the cutting out of the shoulder pads and we are back in business. However, I am not one to care for liars. I just never understood it. Why do people lie? Now, I understand being young and lying to your parents, hell, if for some reason I was on trial for murder and was guilty I'd be so scared I'd lie {side note, I've never, nor do I ever plan on, killing some one}.

Of course, I contacted the seller and let them know that I do like the blazer and plan on keeping it, but want some money back being as how the price I paid was for a NWT blazer, as it was described.

2. People. My friend Ashley and I {yes, we have the same name} talk to each other on the phone on our way to work nearly everyday. I leave my house at 7 to get to work at 8 and she leaves at 7:30 to get to work at 8, so everyday we chat for about a half hour. Today our convo was regarding rude, ignorant, etc Americans. We were discussing how people can be so rude. A few of our topics:

                1. The people who know the driving lane they are in is ending, see the lane next to them stopping with people waiting in it and speed up to the last foot before the lane ends and then cut in line. Come on people, it is obvious we are all in the same traffic jam and we are all wanting to go home and believe it or not, the person you cut off may actually have a real reason to be in a hurry.
                2. The people who are standing in a line at the check out register and hear someone say another register is open and run to the newly opened register and cut in front of all the people that were really "next" in line. You'd think by age 8 the understanding of a single file line would be apparent. But, apparently, there are people out there who really think that all the other people in line in front of them were just there to annoy them and must be doing nothing else other than picking their nose!
                3. The people who make rude comments out loud about long lines, customer service, etc. For example, I remember one time I was at a restaurant and it was a busy night. The waitress was running all over the place and still giving good customer service. yet, some b***h yells out about how long she is waiting on a refill and how dare this waitress not give her the proper service she demands. Now, for those of you who know me, you will know that I truly try hard not to air my dirty laundry in public and also will only be rude when I really have a reason and most of the time my rude behavior is standing up for the under dog {my mother was huge on that and so are my grandparents}. So, of course, I tell the lady to calm down. I let her know that her ignorance in the business of waiting on tables is apparent and to point out the waitress did not have 3 of herself, with 4 arms and 8 legs.

3. American Public Schools. Now, I was raised in American public schools and I think I turned out alright, however, we as a country are so far behind others. At my work {for those who don't know, I manage student housing for KU} we have a few residents who are from overseas, China primarily. And almost all of them speak English. When I asked how they all know it.... well... school of course! Although, as I stated before, I turned out ok, I am also very uneducated. I only know one language {I know some Spanish, like a 3 year old}, I'm horrible at math because I didn't really learn in depth math till my brain was beyond taking in tons of info to know it, I don't know off the top of my head what comes after trillion, I don't know all my cursive letters because I wasn't pushed to learn them, I can't spell very well and will even click the spell check button on here and find a few errors {there were 5}, I don't know all 50 states, and I can't tell you on a map where 1/2 of the world's countries are. Way to go public schools.....

Ok... I'm done ranting. Thanks for listening... I feel better. :)

Have a great Friday kids!

You call that a steal.....?

Last night I got my leopard heels back {they had been in a box my mom had at her place}, so of course today I felt the need to rock them!

I decided to mix them with some black harem pants I love, a white fitted shirt, silver jewelry and a black boyfriend style blazer. While getting ready today I remembered how much I LOVE my harem pants. I got them from Victoria Secret for like $60 and they are currently on sale for $40 {I should really get another pair as a back up}.

I looked today to see if they had them in any other colors and of course, they didn't. So, I resorted to my good friend, Shop Style {www.ShopStyle.com}. And of course, all pants were either crazy expensive, or if cheap looked cheap and not cute.

So, I tried a google search and stumbled upon a website {I'll keep their identity a secret since I'm about to shit talk....} that shows you things you like that cost a lot and then a place to get the same thing for a "steal".

I'm sure many of you have found what I'm about to discuss and that is that the "steal" is bullshit! I understand the original is like $500 {and in the case of my dream harem pants $400}, but the same pants for less at $150 is not a steal.

People that can spend $150 on a pair of pants in my opinion are not the people who are searching for a way to get cute clothes at a bargain price. When was $150 for pants a steal!?!?!

So, just to prove a point I did more research and thought to myself, "There must be cute harem pants for a decent price in a color other than black some where in the fashion world". And I was RIGHT!

Here are the pants I wish I could afford {apparently Victoria Beckham owns them}. They retail for about $400 and are made by Roberto Cavalli.

Now, like most women, I can't afford the $150 "steal", but I can afford the $47 STEAL! They aren't the same color but have a similar color scheme. They are from one of my favorite websites {in fact, the white fitted shirt I am wearing today is from there}, Dorothy Perkins {www.DorothyPerkins.com}.

Totally similar and totally a real steal! Eat that website I won't name!

And in case you feel the need to rush out and buy these, here is the link:

http://www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33053&storeId=12552&productId=2241786&langId=-1&categoryId=&searchTerm=harem&pageSize=20

In case you didn't notice, the amount is in Pounds and not USD, but a quick google search will tell you the exact exchange rate. I usually just take the Pounds amount and multiply it by 1.5 to get an idea. It's usually pretty close to that!

I will get a pair myself, but I have to wait till pay day {darn government making me owe taxes}.

Also, in case you aren't normally an overseas shopper, the sizes aren't the same either. So make sure you check the correct size. My pants are size 12 in the US, so when I shop on here I have to select a 16 {depressing I know}.

Good luck! Happy Thursday!

I should have been born into wealth.

As I am sure many of you feel this way, but I often think to myself about how I was meant to be rich, famous, etc. I am blessed to have been raised in a household that was blessed. We got to go on family vacations, have nice things, live in a large house.... But then came the day when I graduated high school and moved out onto my own.

My parents paid for my schooling, and I am very blessed for that, but growing up in a household where I got nearly everything I want to barely being able to afford food was hard. Although I am now 27 and have a good job, a great husband, etc. And I am blessed to be able to afford things, I still find myself wanting more.

My lunch break at work is usually very routine. I eat in front of my computer and play pretend shop. What's pretend shop you ask? Well, I find clothes that I love, shoes, handbags, etc, select them as if I were to purchase them, but just don't hit "checkout". Sadly, I do this most nights at home as my husband and I sit ont he couch, relax and watch a movie or tv.

I also have a folder in my personal email titled "Things I Want" and I email myself links to things I want and then send the email to the Things I Want folder. Every now and again I go through the folder when I feel like spending money and can actually afford to do so and purchase something in this folder.

I always get really angry when the item I wanted appears to be sold out or no longer in my size. Which is why, sometimes, when I see something I like and there already running low on sizes, I'll buy it. Luckily my husband isn't crazy or mean and doesn't mind the random boxes of things that get delivered to the house each week.

Going back, if I were born into wealth I would do nothing but shop all day! Not just clothes! I'd buy houses, land, boats, cars, etc. I LOVE to buy! Sometimes it doesn't matter what it is. I'm an addict!

Everyone has a blog these days....

It seems like everyone I know now has a blog. And I enjoy writing, after all, I went to school for it, and so I thought... I'll have a blog. And now here we are.

I thought about what I wanted out of my blog. What I decided was a blog about being a girl, being a wife and ,hopefully some day, about being a mom.

I have several blogs I follow about many different topics. Some for make-up tips, some for fashion tips, some for recipes, etc. And I thought, wouldn't it be great to just have a one stop shop for all of these things?

And thus, the answer to every girl's problem... a blog that combines it all... rest assure, I'm here to save the day... well.. not really. And if no one reads this, I guess it will just be my own way of gathering the things I enjoy into one spot for my own records. :)
